The Colorado Avalanche's Gabriel Landeskog


Alex Garbiso is a personal trainer at his company called Mile High Nutrition and Fitness in Denver, Colorado. A Junior A hockey player in Canada, his favorite NHL team is the Colorado Avalanche.

In 2012, Gabriel Landeskog was named the captain of the Colorado Avalanche and became the NHL’s youngest captain ever at 19 years and 286 days. Selected number two overall in the 2011 NHL draft, he delivered immediately by becoming only the third Swedish-born player to win the Calder Cup award for the best rookie in the league. In the same season, he also was the third rookie to ever score 20 goals and to notch more than 200 body checks.

The 6’1”, 215-pound left wing plays a very physical game, and he is considered an excellent two-way forward. In 2014, he signed a seven-year, $39 million-dollar contract with the team, which gives him a cap hit of $5,571,429. For charity, Landeskog has been active in an anti-bullying campaign, and he has worked with a foundation called EMPWR to promote concussion awareness.
